Children laughing

A Message From Jaydie Lynn King Foundation President, Cami King

Dear Friends,

I am a mother who learned, in the hardest way imaginable, how precious and fragile childhood is. My daughter Jaydie was seven—riding her bike, laughing with her siblings, soaking up every bright, ordinary moment—when we were told she had an inoperable brain tumor. In an instant our world changed. We had never known the meaning of “terminal cancer” as parents, and suddenly we were living it.

Jaydie loved life. She loved being the big sister to Taylor and Jaxson. Her giggle was contagious, usually sparked by something silly her siblings did. Even after her diagnosis, Jaydie’s first thought was for others. As treatments began, she insisted the children around her have everything they needed to get through long hours at the hospital. Blankets made by grandmas, extra crafts to share, small comforts and distractions—she gathered them all into a bag and shared them freely. Treatment rooms became places to meet new friends and to make small, stubborn joyful moments.

I learned to accept what I could not control. We were living on the cancer’s timetable, and Jaydie taught us how to make the most of every minute we were given. She chose to fill our days with quality time, family adventures, and the kind of love that leaves a lifetime of memories. She also chose to give back. Team Jaydie was formed by her, and from her own savings she donated the first $25,000 to Phoenix Children's Hospital and the team of doctors and nurses who cared for her.

Shortly after she turned eight, Jaydie passed away the day before Thanksgiving. I was shattered, a mother of three now carrying grief so deep it felt impossible to move forward. But Jaydie had given me a purpose: to keep her wish alive. The Jaydie Lynn King Foundation was born from that promise. We began with block parties, golf tournaments, and "Adopt A Family" drives for the families fighting cancer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Our mission is simple and clear: to provide comfort, resources, and hope to children and families who are walking the path Jaydie once walked.

Adopt A Family is our largest and most heartfelt program. During the holidays, financial strain can make an already impossible time feel unbearable. Through generous donors, businesses, and groups of caring people, we match families with supporters who provide gifts, grocery gift cards, household essentials, and the little things that restore dignity and joy. This program is possible only because of volunteers and donors who choose to show up for families in need.

The Jaydie Lynn King Foundation is 100% volunteer-run. Every dollar we receive goes directly to helping families—toward the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and toward programs that make treatment days kinder, hospital stays warmer, and holidays brighter. We have pledged to raise and donate more than $2 million to help families access the best care and support, driven by the hope that no parent should have to bury a child if we can help prevent it.

I am reaching out because connection matters. New relationships—professional or personal—begin with open hearts and shared purpose. Helping families who are on the same journey as ours keeps Jaydie close to me and honors the promise I made to her: to do everything I can to help others. That is our mission at Team Jaydie.

I would be honored for you to join us—whether with your time, your talents, or your generosity. Together we can bring comfort and hope to children and families when they need it most.

Forever Raising hope,
